The Damage of Emerald Ash Borer rivals that of Dutch Elm Disease and Chestnut Blight.

• Chestnut Blight killed around 3.5 billion trees nationwide.  (There are 3.5 billion Ash trees in just Ohio by itself)

Emerald ash borer (EAB), was discovered in southeastern Michigan near Detroit in the summer of 2002. (EAB)Agrilus planipennis Fairmaire, is an exotic beetle and since its discovery, it has killed tens of millions of ash trees in southeastern Michigan, with tens of millions more lost in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Missouri, New York, Minnesota, Ontario, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Quebec, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Pricing is determined now,  it will be determined by DBH of the tree, so if you have an Ash tree that has DBH of 6 inches or less, you will probably be under $5 / tree. Diameter Breast Height

It is NOT too soon to Treat our Ash Trees

SW Iowa's EAB nightmare ! Viking Lake is a beautiful State Park that attracts many visitors each year.  Bob and Mary are an elderly couple that like to camp for 1 week increments at different campgrounds, as they enter into Iowa near the Mississippi, they purchase firewood.  They do not know it yet, but their firewood is infested with EAB (because any wood with the bark on it is at risk).  Now, they travel a couple hundred miles and make their entrance to Viking Lake and stay for a week. Before all firewood gets burned, the EAB decide to take a look around and make themselves a new home.  Now the EAB is within miles of affecting our local SW Iowa communities.  This is just a story, but this is not a hollywood movie for the making, this is a REAL example of how EAB will arrive.  This example shows how travel in less than a day will bring them.
